IVAN KEELING FROM CHEADLE SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENSES IN STAFFORDSHIRE

In a recent development at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Ivan Keeling, a 74-year-old resident of Hammersley Hayes Road in Cheadle, has been subjected to an extended period of incarceration following his conviction on multiple historic sexual assault charges. The court found Keeling guilty of nine separate counts related to sexual offenses committed against a young girl in Staffordshire, spanning from 2011 to 2014.

These charges include sexually assaulting a girl aged between 11 and 14, as well as inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, Keeling was convicted of sexually assaulting a child under 16 and inciting a child under 16 to participate in sexual acts. The trial, which took place at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, concluded on Wednesday, March 3, with the jury delivering a guilty verdict on all counts.

Currently, Keeling is serving a 17-year sentence for an unrelated offense. However, following the recent conviction, he was sentenced on Thursday, March 11, to an additional four years in prison, effectively extending his incarceration period. This means that his total time behind bars will now be increased, reflecting the severity and number of the offenses for which he was found guilty.

Keeling’s criminal history is extensive. In 2018, he was convicted of raping and sexually abusing a schoolgirl, a crime that resulted in a 16-year prison sentence. During that trial, it was revealed that Keeling had groomed the young victim over an eight-year period, using gifts such as money, cigarettes, alcohol, and chocolates to manipulate her. The court heard that the abuse had left the victim psychologically scarred.

Despite denying the charges at that time, Keeling was found guilty of all the offenses after a trial. Judge David Fletcher ordered him to be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, emphasizing the ongoing risk he poses to the community. Keeling’s criminal activities, spanning multiple decades, have brought significant distress to his victims and have resulted in substantial legal consequences, including the recent extension of his prison term.
