IMOGEN BOORMAN SHAMES ANGUS WITH SEX OFFENDER STATUS AFTER PUB INCIDENT
Former Coronation Street actress Imogen Boorman has been officially registered as a sex offender following her admission to multiple criminal offenses that took place in Angus. The 52-year-old mother of three, who gained fame portraying Vanessa Morgan on the long-running ITV soap during the 1990s, was taken into custody last May after a disturbing incident at the Picture House pub located in Montrose, where she currently resides.
Boorman, who also appeared in productions such as Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Casualty, and Lovejoy, pleaded guilty to a total of seven charges during her court hearing.
Her sentencing is scheduled for April, and the details of her offenses paint a troubling picture of her behavior that night.
The court proceedings revealed that Boorman entered the pub around 10 pm.
Instead of ordering a drink, she responded with a smile when asked for her order, then proceeded to strip naked in front of other patrons.
She climbed onto the bar counter, lay down, and began drinking directly from the beer taps, causing alarm among witnesses and staff.
Further disturbing actions followed.
It was reported that while lying on the bar, Boorman took a man's hands and placed them on her bare chest, engaging in sexual assault.
She then sprayed his face with a draught juice gun, adding to the chaos.
Moving to the pub’s dining area, she attempted to pull down the same man's trousers in a sexual manner, escalating the incident further.
Police were called to the scene after reports of a drunken woman causing a disturbance.
Four officers responded, including two female officers who tried to assist her in getting dressed.
The situation worsened when Boorman was taken to the police station in Dundee, where she physically assaulted an officer by grabbing her arm, resulting in scratches and redness.
During her drunken state, Boorman had consumed or spilled alcohol worth approximately £321.86.
She admitted to stealing alcohol from the bar, behaving threateningly and abusively, and engaging in public indecency.
Her charges also included assault and sexual assault of a customer, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police constable, as reported by The Mirror.
In her defense, Boorman’s lawyer expressed remorse, stating she felt very embarrassed and sorry for her actions.
The lawyer also mentioned that she is currently receiving treatment for complex PTSD and has been making progress in her recovery.
The presiding judge indicated that a decision regarding her sentencing would be made on April 2.
Addressing Boorman directly, the judge remarked, “I can see you hung your head as that narrative was being read out.
No doubt it tortures you to have to appear and listen to what was your behavior back then.
I’m very delighted to hear from your solicitor that you have made significant progress in addressing the alcohol issue that was no doubt behind these extraordinary, bizarre events.”
