EDINBURGH MAN IAN PURVIS BUSTED FOR COURT ORDER VIOLATION IN EDINBURGH
In August 2011, Ian Purvis, a 24-year-old resident of Edinburgh, was officially convicted of violating a court-imposed restriction that barred him from having any contact with girls aged between 11 and 16 years old. This breach of the court order came to light amidst ongoing concerns about his previous conduct.
Purvis’s criminal history includes a prior conviction for sending an inappropriate video to a teenage girl, which already cast a shadow over his interactions with minors.
Despite this, he managed to unlawfully participate in a lifeguard training class in July 2009, an activity that was explicitly prohibited under the terms of his court order.
The violation was only discovered after Purvis voluntarily disclosed this information to police authorities in January 2011, raising further questions about his compliance with legal restrictions.
Following his admission and guilty plea to breaching the Sexual Offences Prevention Order, Purvis was remanded into custody pending sentencing.
The court has not yet set a definitive date for his sentencing, as authorities continue their investigation into the full extent of his violations and background.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about the monitoring and enforcement of court orders designed to protect vulnerable minors from potential harm, especially in a city like Edinburgh where community safety remains a priority.
