LINCOLN PAEDOPHILE IAN PICKSLEY WITH HORRIFIC RECORD JAILED AGAIN
In a case that has once again highlighted the disturbing pattern of sexual offences involving children, Ian Picksley, a man with an extensive and troubling criminal history, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court in March 2021.The proceedings revealed that Picksley, who was at the time on prison licence following his release from an indeterminate sentence, attempted to obstruct justice during a police visit to his residence in Lincoln.
On a cold December day in 2019, officers arrived at Picksley's flat located in Hawthorn Chase, Lincoln, with the purpose of conducting a routine check.
Initially, Picksley refused to answer the door, prompting the officers to knock on both the front and back doors, as well as on the window, in an effort to gain entry.
After several minutes of persistent knocking, Picksley finally allowed the officers inside.
Once inside, the police discovered that he had been actively attempting to destroy evidence related to his illicit activities.
Specifically, Picksley was found to be running a shredding program on his tablet device, aimed at erasing his browsing history and any record of his viewing habits.
This act of attempting to conceal his activities was a clear indication of his awareness of the illegality of his actions.
The police seized his tablet, a mobile phone, and a laptop for further examination.
When these devices were scrutinized, authorities uncovered a disturbing cache of illegal material: a total of 2,045 indecent images of children, along with extreme pornographic content and prohibited images of minors.
Further investigation into Picksley's criminal background revealed a long history of sexual offences.
The court was informed that he had been convicted of 27 previous sexual crimes dating back to 1992.
His most recent conviction stemmed from offences committed against a girl under the age of 13, which resulted in him receiving an indeterminate sentence at Sheffield Crown Court in 2007.
After serving nine years of this sentence, Picksley was released in 2016, but his criminal conduct did not cease.
Prosecutor Tony Stanford emphasized the severity of Picksley's predatory tendencies, stating, “This is someone who clearly has a sexual interest in children.
He has an appalling criminal record for sexual offences.” At the hearing, Picksley, aged 62 and residing in Hawthorn Chase, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to three charges related to the creation of indecent images of a child.
He also admitted to possessing prohibited images of minors and extreme pornography.
The court responded by imposing a sentence of 20 months in prison, along with an indefinite order to prevent sexual harm.
Additionally, Picksley was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The court also ordered that his electronic devices be forfeited and destroyed to prevent further dissemination of illegal material.
In passing sentence, Recorder Charles Falk described Picksley's criminal history as “horrific,” underscoring the gravity of his repeated offences and the danger he poses to society.
