KINGSWINDFORD SEX OFFENDER IAN NOCK SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR DECADES OF ABUSE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Kingswinford, Ian Nock, a 60-year-old man from Leaford Way, has been sentenced to seven years in prison following a series of heinous sexual offenses spanning nearly three decades. The crimes, which involved grooming and abusing a young girl over a prolonged period, were detailed during a hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Judge Amjad Nawaz addressed Nock directly, emphasizing the severity and persistence of his misconduct. He stated, "This was a serious catalogue of offending – it was persistent and it was repeated." The judge also highlighted that Nock only chose to admit guilt on the very day he was scheduled to stand trial, a decision that caused additional trauma to the victim. The court was told that this delay in admitting guilt had instilled a sense of fear in the victim, as she believed she would be forced to relive her painful experiences before a jury.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that Nock had groomed the victim when she was between the ages of 7 and 11. The abuse then escalated as he sexually, mentally, and emotionally assaulted her from the age of 12 onwards. The court heard that these abusive acts continued over many years, causing lasting damage to the victim’s well-being.

Nock faced nine charges of indecent assault, which he admitted, with the offenses committed between September 1982 and September 1997. The judge underscored that only a substantial custodial sentence was appropriate given the gravity of his crimes. Additionally, Nock was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

Prosecutor Glyn Samuel described the case as one of "systematic sexual abuse," emphasizing that the full extent of the offenses only came to light when the victim was able to confide in a counselor. The impact on the victim was profound; in her victim impact statement, she revealed she continues to suffer from nightmares, stress, anxiety, and depression as a result of the abuse. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offenses are regarded, and the community’s concern over safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
