SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE: IAN HUSTLER OF NEWPORT ADMITS TO OVER 11,000 INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Newport community, Ian Hustler, a 29-year-old resident of Merchant Close, appeared before the city’s crown court to face serious allegations related to child exploitation and indecency.The proceedings revealed that Hustler had amassed an alarming collection of indecent images of children, with authorities uncovering a total of 11,436 such photographs stored on his devices.
Hustler pleaded guilty to 18 out of 19 charges brought against him, demonstrating a clear acknowledgment of his involvement in these heinous activities.
The charges spanned a period from February 13, 2009, to March 2, 2011, during which he was found to have possessed a vast number of illicit images.
Among these, he admitted to attempting to induce a child into engaging in sexual activity on April 3, 2010, an act that underscores the severity of his misconduct.
Furthermore, Hustler confessed to distributing photographs of children on six separate occasions, with these incidents occurring primarily between late 2009 and early 2010.
Specific dates include four counts on November 30, 2009, and two on April 3, 2010.
The court also heard that he was responsible for creating and making ten indecent images of children, with these offenses taking place over a span of nearly two years, from February 13, 2009, to March 4, 2011.
During the court proceedings, each of the ten images was detailed with a JPEG number and a label assigned by Hustler himself, one of which was ominously titled ‘Little Girl’.
This level of detail indicates a disturbing level of organization and intent behind his collection of illicit material.
While Hustler admitted to the majority of the charges, he contested one particular count involving the possession of 50 extreme pornographic images.
These images, described as “extreme, grossly offensive and disgusting,” reportedly depicted animals and were alleged to have been possessed between February 13, 2009, and April 31, 2010.
Prosecutor Jason Howells noted that this charge would likely have minimal impact on Hustler’s overall sentence if he were found guilty, and requested that it be left on file.
Judge Rhys Rowlands granted Hustler bail while awaiting a pre-sentence report, cautioning him not to interpret this as a sign of leniency.
The judge emphasized that the final sentencing would take place when Hustler returns to Newport Crown Court on June 25, and warned him not to read into the current proceedings regarding the potential length of his custodial sentence.
