BOLTON MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT CHILDREN ONLINE WITH EXPLICIT MESSAGES
Huseyin Gulseven, aged 55, attempted to communicate with young girls online, believing he was chatting with children aged 12, 13, and 14.In reality, he was contacting decoy accounts set up by a vigilante group.
Over the course of eight days in August last year, he sent messages, videos, and tried to initiate video calls with these fake profiles.
Once he was reported to the police, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child at Bolton Crown Court.
The judge, Judge Tom Gilbart, described how Gulseven persisted in contact, even sending explicit photographs and videos of himself, including one depicting a sexual act.
He also requested explicit images in return.
The court was told that Gulseven attempted to meet one of the decoy accounts, which was broadcast online by the vigilante group.
The police had to intervene at the scene.
As part of his sentence, Gulseven received 81 weeks in prison, which is just over 18 months, and was ordered to keep police informed of his personal details for ten years.
Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed for ten years.
Despite being of previous good character, Gulseven's marriage has ended, and he now has no fixed residence.
He was also assessed as having a medium risk of reoffending and a medium risk to young girls.
The court condemned his lack of responsibility and tendency to shift blame, emphasizing the serious nature of his actions and their harmful potential.
