WHITEFIELD PAEDOPHILE HOMAYON NAROUZZAD'S HORRIFIC ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRLS REVEALED

In July 2011, a disturbing case emerged involving Homayon Narouzzad, a man with a disturbing foot fetish who carried out heinous acts of sexual abuse against 18 young girls at a takeaway establishment in Whitefield, near Manchester. The case has drawn significant attention to the troubling pattern of grooming and exploitation carried out by men of Asian backgrounds targeting predominantly white schoolgirls.

Homayon Narouzzad, aged 33 at the time, had initially sought asylum in Britain, claiming he was fleeing persecution in Iran. Despite his claims, he became known locally as a fitness enthusiast and a popular figure in the Whitefield area, where he worked at the Family Guy takeaway. Residing in a flat above the premises, Narouzzad was well-known among teenagers who frequented the café, earning the nickname ‘Smiley’ due to his cheerful demeanor.

Although he was finally granted leave to remain in the UK in the year prior to his arrest, by then he had already begun exploiting his friendly image to target vulnerable girls for sexual abuse. His modus operandi involved luring young girls, some as young as 12, with offers of free food and small amounts of cash, often as little as £5, in exchange for engaging in sex acts centered around his foot fetish. These acts took place in his flat above the takeaway, where he would also assign ‘star ratings’ to the girls based on their performances, storing their contact details in his mobile phone.

The case highlights a disturbing trend where men, often from Asian backgrounds, systematically groom young girls for sexual exploitation. The victims in this case, however, were mainly from stable family backgrounds, which underscores the insidious nature of Narouzzad’s grooming tactics. Over the course of a year, he managed to manipulate and abuse multiple girls, some of whom were still dressed in their school uniforms when they visited him.

One particularly troubling aspect of the case was the involvement of a 13-year-old girl who unwittingly acted as a ‘pimp’ by recruiting her friends, some of whom brought along their younger sisters. This created a ring of girls aged between 12 and 15 who were subjected to regular sexual abuse. The court heard that another girl approached Narouzzad seeking money to buy hair extensions, illustrating how some victims were lured by seemingly innocent motives.

The abuse persisted for approximately a year before one of the victims confided in her mother, prompting police investigation. Authorities believe that initially, the girls did not recognize Narouzzad’s requests as sexual abuse, but over time, some became withdrawn and visibly traumatised by their experiences. The case culminated in Narouzzad pleading guilty to 25 counts of sexual activity with a child at Bolton Crown Court.

During the court proceedings, a letter from Narouzzad was read aloud, in which he expressed ‘sincere apologies and remorse to the victims and families.’ Despite this, Judge Maureen Roddy emphasized the lasting impact of his actions, stating that he had left the girls with a ‘nightmare to bear.’

Following the sentencing, detectives highlighted how easily such systematic abuse can go unnoticed, especially when victims are careful not to display signs of new possessions or changes in behavior. Child exploitation experts have pointed out warning signs such as girls having extra money for clothes or new mobile phones, but in this case, the victims were cautious not to arouse suspicion.

Recent reports from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre have revealed a disproportionate involvement of Asian men in street grooming offences. Over the past three years, out of 2,379 suspected offenders attempting to lure vulnerable victims—often using drugs and alcohol—28 percent were identified as Asian. This case in Whitefield underscores the ongoing concerns about grooming and exploitation within certain communities, emphasizing the need for vigilance and preventative measures.
