HAYDN BINGHAM SENTENCED IN BEDWORTH FOR HISTORICAL RAPE CASE
Haydn Bingham, a 58-year-old resident of Heath Road in Bedworth, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison following a conviction for a historic sexual assault. The incident took place on New Year’s Eve in 2012, and Bingham was found guilty by a jury at Warwick Crown Court last month.Court records detail that Bingham took advantage of a young woman in her twenties while she was asleep. The victim recalled waking to find Bingham assaulting her, and when she tried to push him away, he forcibly raped her. Although the attack happened nearly six years prior, the victim reported the incident to authorities in 2018.
Despite the delay, the West Midlands Police Public Protection Unit conducted a thorough investigation, which led to Bingham’s conviction. Detective Constable Craig Hall commented on the case, stating, “We always take allegations of sexual abuse seriously, no matter how long ago they happened, and this conviction showcases our commitment to pursuing perpetrators through the justice system.”
As part of his sentence, Bingham will be required to remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.
