HASNAIN MANJI FROM HARROW AND STANMORE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Harrow and Stanmore, Hasnain Manji, a 43-year-old man residing on High Street, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of more than two decades. The crimes involved the sexual abuse of four teenage boys, with the earliest incident dating back to 1989 and the most recent occurring in 2011.

Manji, who was employed as a teacher at the Madrassa within the Islamic Centre in Stanmore, targeted vulnerable children during weekends, exploiting their trust and innocence. His predatory behavior was uncovered after a lengthy investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service’s Child Abuse Investigation Command. The court proceedings revealed that Manji’s offenses ranged from indecent assault to inciting children to engage in sexual activity, including sexual touching.

He was sentenced on a Friday at Harrow Crown Court after previously admitting to 15 child sex offenses during a hearing on January 5. As part of his sentence, Manji will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities moving forward.

Detective Constable Rachel Snow, who led the investigation, expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “This man waited until these young boys were alone before assaulting them whilst they were vulnerable. The first two victims suffered in silence for many years trying to put what happened to them at the back of their minds, and I commend the bravery of the victims for coming forward. Today, justice has been served, ensuring that no other innocent child shall suffer in his hands in the future.”

The court heard that Manji’s first victim, now in his 30s, was assaulted in his sleep between November 1989 and November 1991, when he was just 12 years old. The defendant also admitted to indecently assaulting a second boy, aged 10 at the time, between April 1990 and April 1991. Further, he acknowledged sexual activity with a third victim, a 12-year-old boy, in December 2010, along with seven counts of inciting that same boy to engage in sexual touching from August 2010 to January 2011. His fourth victim was aged 14, and Manji admitted to five counts of inciting the boy to engage in sexual activity, specifically sexual touching, from August to November 2010.

Detective Constable Snow emphasized the importance of encouraging victims to come forward, noting, “We also know that victims of such offences don’t always want to come direct to police, and we actively seek to support and encourage them to do so.” The sentencing marks a significant step in addressing the abuse and protecting future generations from similar harm.
