IRVINE SEX OFFENDER HARRY CAMERON WITH OVER 900 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AWAITING SENTENCE
Harry Cameron, a man from Irvine with a disturbing criminal record involving child exploitation, is currently awaiting sentencing after being found in possession of more than 900 indecent images of children, some of which depicted infants. The case was heard at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, January 28, where Cameron, aged 24, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child abuse material.Prosecutor Craig Wainwright outlined the details of the investigation, revealing that police first became aware of Cameron’s illicit activities after receiving credible information indicating that indecent content involving children was being downloaded from his residence in Irvine. Acting on this tip, officers obtained a search warrant and arrived at Cameron’s home early in the morning on September 5, 2023. Upon entry, Cameron was present along with two siblings, and all three were cautioned. During the search, officers requested access to personal electronic devices, which Cameron and his siblings provided passcodes for, allowing investigators to examine the devices.
Subsequent cybercrime analysis focused on Cameron’s mobile phone, an iPhone, which was found to contain a significant amount of illegal content. Cameron, who now resides on Galt Avenue, identified himself as the owner of the device. The investigation uncovered a total of 308 still images depicting children aged between 0 and 12 years old. These images were categorized into three levels of severity: 165 images classified as Category A, involving penetrative sexual acts; 106 as Category B, involving non-penetrative sexual acts; and 37 as Category C, which consisted of erotic posing. In addition to the still images, 605 moving images were located on the device, with 160 categorized as Category A, 224 as Category B, and 221 as Category C.
Further examination revealed that Cameron had sent a Category B moving image via a Telegram account associated with his name to another user on the app. This evidence underscored the extent of his involvement in sharing illegal content. Following the detailed analysis, Cameron was formally cautioned and charged but did not respond to the charges. His solicitor, Sandy Currie, requested that background reports be obtained before sentencing and asked for bail, citing Cameron’s lack of prior convictions and the fact that he had not offended since the initial discovery of his activities.
Sheriff Colin Bissett agreed to delay the sentencing to allow for comprehensive background checks, which are expected later this year. Cameron was granted bail but was also placed on the sex offenders register. The sheriff issued a stern warning, indicating that he was considering sending Cameron into custody, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges and the potential consequences of his actions.
