December 2018 Perverted pensioner caught by paedophile hunting teams A Huddersfield pensioner who groomed and tried to meet who he believed was a teenage boy for sex has avoided a prison sentence Haroon Shelly, 86, of Fleminghouse Lane, Waterloo , had denied the allegations when he appeared at Leeds Crown Court In February but was later found guilty The court was told that Shelly had contacted the online profile of who he believed was a 14 year old boy. He sent sexually explicit chat and images with the clear intent of engaging in sexual activity with the boy. After several weeks of chat, Shelly arranged to meet the boy. However, he was greeted by paedophile hunting team ‘N-Force Justice’ who questioned him on his internet activity. The team were carrying out the sting on behalf of another team called Catching Online Predators. Shelly was arrested after the sting in December 2017 The judge handed Shelly a nine month custodial sentence which was suspended For 2 Years He was ordered to complete a 50 day participation in rehabilitation activities program A sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) wil remain in place until further notice. He was also placed on the sex offenders register
