GYULHAN HYUSEIN AND HIS SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WARRINGTON
A disturbing case of sexual violence has resulted in the conviction and imprisonment of Gyulhan Hyusein after he carried out a vicious assault on a young woman in Warrington.Hyusein, aged 25, was found to be a dangerous predator who showed no regard for the victim's protests and repeated refusals.
The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, October 16, last year, when a woman in her late teens was on her way home to her partner’s residence after a night out with friends.
Walking along Orford Lane just around 3 a.m., she was suddenly approached by Gyulhan Hyusein, who placed his arm around her and made unwelcome physical contact by putting his hand down her back.
Despite her immediate effort to push him away and clearly stating “no,” Hyusein persisted in his assault.
He then inappropriately touched her by placing his hand down her trousers, ignoring her repeated protests.
The victim, refusing to succumb to his advances, pushed him away once more and attempted to walk away in an effort to escape.
Unfortunately, Hyusein did not give up.
He followed her as she entered Orford Avenue and resumed his assault by touching her indecently once again.
It was at this point that the woman, distressed and frightened, began to scream for help.
Hyusein responded by dragging her into an alleyway and forcing her against a wall, where he continued to inappropriately touch her with his fingers.
Despite her efforts to resist and shout for assistance, Hyusein seized her phone and threw it aside to prevent her from calling for help.
After continuing his assault, he eventually retreated from the scene.
The victim, visibly shaken, found refuge at a nearby house and contacted the police.
Law enforcement officers responded swiftly.
CCTV footage captured Hyusein in Warrington town centre, and the police quickly identified him as the suspect.
Just hours after the attack, officers arrested Hyusein based on the live footage they reviewed and saw him walking in Warrington.
His apprehension was credited to diligent policing and the use of surveillance technology.
At Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, February 23, Hyusein pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison, a verdict that has been welcomed by police authorities.
The authorities described Hyusein as a sexual predator and commended the bravery of the victim for reporting the attack.
Following sentencing, Detective Constable Laura Sandbach, who led the investigation, issued a statement condemning Hyusein’s actions.
She emphasized the brutality of the assault and praised the victim’s courage in the face of such terror.
“Gyulhan Hyusein is a sexual predator.
He attacked an innocent woman who was simply walking home, despite repeatedly being told to stop,” she said.
“This was an absolutely terrifying experience for the victim, and I would like to praise her for the courage and bravery that she has shown.” DC Sandbach also expressed hope that the conviction and length of the sentence would offer some sense of justice and closure for the victim, who will likely carry the trauma for years.
She highlighted the importance of community vigilance and thanked the police officer who identified Hyusein through CCTV footage, which was instrumental in his arrest.
Hyusein, who resides on Longford Street in Orford, was not only sentenced to a decade in prison but also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Additionally, a lifetime restraining order has been issued to prevent him from making any contact with the victim.
Detective Sergeant Joe Davies praised the dedication of the investigative officers, particularly DC Sandbach.
“No one should have to experience what this victim endured,” he stated.
“We hope this case encourages others to come forward and report sexual offences.
Our commitment is to thoroughly investigate every report, prioritizing the safety and wishes of the victims.”
