GURJINDER NARMAN OF STROOD AND GRAVESEND SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEX OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Gravesend and Strood, Gurjinder Narman, a 22-year-old man from London Road, Strood, has been sentenced to an indefinite prison term following a series of heinous sexual offenses. The court heard that Narman's crimes involved brutal invasions of the homes of vulnerable elderly women and the sexual assault of a young boy, actions that have left a lasting scar on the victims and the community at large.

Judge Andrew Patience QC presided over the case at Maidstone Crown Court and made it clear that Narman would not be eligible for parole until he has served a minimum of just under 11 years. The judge emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating, "If I had imposed a determinate sentence on the 22-year-old, it would have been 24 years." The judge described the offenses as profoundly cruel and wicked, highlighting the vulnerability of the victims involved.

The first incident took place in June of the previous year, when an 85-year-old woman was at her home in Gravesend, enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of tea. Narman knocked on her door and, without warning, forced his way inside. Once inside, he knocked her onto her back and aggressively grabbed her breasts. Despite her efforts to defend herself by kicking out, Narman persisted. The elderly woman managed to push him out of her house, but he re-entered and continued his assault. She bravely warned him to leave, saying, "Get out of my house before I chuck you out," before he eventually fled the scene.

Approximately four months later, in October, Narman targeted another residence in Gravesend. This time, he broke into a home in the early morning hours and attacked a woman who was dressed in her nightwear. The victim was subjected to a sexual assault, during which Narman attempted to kiss her and bit her on the breast, leaving a mark and saliva that was later matched to his DNA. He also exposed himself before fleeing the scene. The prosecutor, Jonathan Higgs, detailed these disturbing events, emphasizing the brutality of the attack.

In addition to these assaults on elderly women, Narman was also found to have sexually abused a 12-year-old boy. The young victim was coerced into performing a sex act on Narman, adding to the gravity of his crimes. The investigation was triggered after Narman himself reported to police that he had been racially abused while soliciting a prostitute, which led to his arrest.

Further background revealed that Narman had previously been sentenced to eight months in youth custody in October 2008 for attempting to rob a woman and repeatedly trying to get into her car. He was released from custody at the end of January of the previous year, and within six months, he was committing the latest series of offenses. Narman pleaded guilty to charges including oral rape of a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and trespassing with intent to commit sexual offenses.
