STIRLING BUS DRIVER GRZEGORZ GOLEBIOWSKI CAUGHT PHOTOGRAPHING SCHOOLGIRLS AND WOMEN IN SCOTLAND
In April 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving a Polish bus driver from Stirling who engaged in covert and inappropriate photography of women and schoolgirls. The individual, identified as Grzegorz Golebiowksi, was found to have secretly captured images of females in various public locations across Stirling, including the Stirling University campus, Stirling bus station, and the surrounding streets.
Over a period of approximately 17 months, Golebiowksi managed to accumulate a staggering total of 3,566 photographs.
These images predominantly focused on the breasts, buttocks, legs, and genital areas of up to 40 women, ranging in age from teenagers to women in their 30s.
The court was informed that his actions were not random but targeted, with a clear intent to photograph women without their knowledge or consent.
The incident that led to his arrest occurred at the Thistle Marches Shopping Centre, situated near Stirling Bus Station.
During a routine mid-afternoon break, Golebiowksi was observed engaging in suspicious behavior while secretly filming a group of schoolgirls using his mobile phone.
A vigilant shopper noticed his unusual conduct—he was wearing a hi-vis jacket and carrying a First Bus bag, which drew suspicion.
The shopper decided to follow him discreetly back to the bus station and subsequently reported the incident to the station supervisor.
Law enforcement authorities were promptly contacted, leading to a police raid on Golebiowksi’s residence.
During the search, his mobile phone was seized for forensic examination.
Prosecutor Susan Campbell described the nature of the photographs and the manner in which they were taken as indicative of sexual gratification.
She emphasized that the images were captured clandestinely, suggesting a deliberate intent to exploit the victims for sexual purposes.
Golebiowksi, aged 59 and residing on Polmaise Avenue in St Ninians, Stirling, pleaded guilty to charges of breaching the peace through the act of filming and photographing females without their consent.
The identities of the victims remain unknown, but the court was informed of the serious nature of his misconduct.
Sheriff William Gilchrist decided to continue Golebiowksi’s bail until June 14th, pending an evidential hearing to determine whether he should be placed on the sex offenders register.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns regarding privacy violations and inappropriate conduct by individuals in positions of public trust within the Stirling community.
