GREG FALCONER OF ABERDEEN SENTENCED AFTER ANIMAL ABUSE AND THREATENING BEHAVIOR

Greg Falconer, born on December 22, 1992, of 40 Marchburn Crescent, Aberdeen AB16 7NL, was convicted in 2022 for multiple offences including animal abuse, threats, and verbal abuse.

Falconer admitted to a series of incidents that involved mistreating his large-breed dog, named Cheeko, as well as threatening his relatives with a knife and verbally abusing police officers.

The court was told that the first incident took place at Bucksburn Police Station on December 4, 2020, when Falconer directed abusive language at officers and made threats to release his dog on them.

The following day, Falconer was seen outside Aberdeen Royal Infirmary dragging Cheeko around aggressively. A prosecutor stated, “He was aggressively dragging his dog around,” and added that “He continued shouting and swearing all the way to Kittybrewster police station.”

During this incident, Falconer was observed punching and kicking Cheeko behind the police van, with witnesses noting that the dog appeared frightened and was shivering. He also called one police officer a “p***” multiple times.

On June 23, 2021, Falconer, who was intoxicated, damaged several pieces of furniture in front of his pregnant girlfriend, including shattering a glass table with an ashtray.

In May 2022, Falconer brandished a knife at his mother and step-grandfather, forcing his way into their home and demanding money.

Falconer admitted to one charge of causing unnecessary suffering or harm to an animal, and five charges of threatening or abusive behavior.

His defense lawyer explained that alcohol and drug abuse had contributed to his offending but emphasized that Falconer had since made efforts to change, describing him as having become “a new man.”

In terms of sentencing, Falconer received a one-year supervision order and a five-month restriction of liberty order. The court did not mention any ban related to animal ownership or other restrictions.
