In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Swindon, Grant Morton, a 46-year-old IT specialist, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of installing covert surveillance devices in his own home to secretly observe teenage girls as they used the bathroom and changed clothes. The revelations emerged during a police investigation that uncovered a disturbing pattern of voyeuristic behavior and possession of indecent images.
According to court reports, Morton’s illicit activities included the installation of hidden cameras within his residence, which he used to film three girls aged between 15 and 18.
These recordings captured the girls in private moments, and police found evidence of his obsession with secretly filming individuals for sexual gratification.
Prosecutor Hannah Squire explained that Morton derived a 'thrill in filming people secretly,' which provided him with 'sexual gratification.' Further investigations revealed that Morton had also engaged in the theft of private photographs.
He stole images from a girl’s phone while it was charging from his laptop, and he also took pictures while repairing a woman’s computer.
In addition to these acts, Morton shared some of the illicit images with two friends via Skype, spreading the material further and demonstrating a disturbing disregard for the privacy and dignity of his victims.
Police searches of Morton’s residence uncovered a staggering collection of over 55,000 indecent images.
Among these, 125 were classified in the most serious category, indicating the severity of the material he possessed.
The authorities also discovered the cameras used to film the three girls, confirming the extent of his voyeuristic activities.
The case was brought to court after concerns were raised about Morton’s relationship with a vulnerable 16-year-old girl.
These concerns prompted an investigation that ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent charges.
Morton admitted to multiple offenses, including voyeurism, the taking and sharing of indecent images between 2014 and 2017, and possessing indecent images of a child.
Swindon Crown Court sentenced Morton to three years and one month in prison, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
