GRAHAM STUBBINGS SCARBOROUGH SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN PRISON

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Scarborough, Graham John Stubbings, a 29-year-old man residing on Hatterboard Drive, was sentenced to six years behind bars for a series of serious sexual offences committed against young girls. The conviction followed a comprehensive five-day trial at Teesside Crown Court, where a jury found Stubbings guilty of eight counts of sexual activity with minors, spanning the years from 2004 to 2012.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that Stubbings had deliberately targeted two particularly vulnerable young girls, who were only 12 and 13 years old at the time they encountered him. The court heard how he established inappropriate and illegal sexual relationships with these minors, exploiting their youth and innocence for his own gratification. The details of the case underscored the disturbing nature of his actions and the impact they had on the victims' lives.

Detective Constable Jonathan Sygrove, a representative of Scarborough CID, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the severity of Stubbings' crimes. He stated, “I am pleased that Graham Stubbings has received a sentence which reflects the gravity of his offending. His behaviour in targeting vulnerable young girls was disgusting and I hope he uses his time in prison to reflect on the distress he has caused his victims.”

Sygrove also highlighted the bravery of the victims, who demonstrated remarkable courage by coming forward to report the abuse before the case reached court. He praised their actions, saying, “The two victims in this case were extremely brave in coming forward and reporting Stubbings to the police before attending court. If they hadn’t had the courage to face what happened to them, Stubbings would still be in a position to target other young girls. I would like to thank them for their bravery and I hope that their actions will give other victims of sexual offences the confidence to come forward.”
