GRAHAM RIX FROM DONCASTER SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND PRISON TIME IN 1999

In March 1999, Graham Rix, a man originally from Doncaster, faced serious criminal charges related to sexual misconduct. He was convicted of engaging in sexual activities with a minor and was found guilty of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The victim was identified as the daughter of a family friend, which added a layer of betrayal and breach of trust to the case.

Following his conviction, Rix was sentenced to serve a total of 12 months in prison. He served six months of this sentence before being released on parole. As part of his punishment, he was also mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further offenses.

In addition to his criminal penalties, Rix faced professional repercussions. The Football Association (FA) imposed a ban on him working with youth players under the age of 16, effectively barring him from coaching or engaging in youth football activities within the sport.

Despite his criminal conviction and the restrictions placed upon him, Rix returned to his previous role at Chelsea Football Club immediately after his release from prison. His return was met with controversy, but he continued his involvement in football. Notably, he was part of the Chelsea squad that secured the FA Cup victory in 2000. However, his tenure at the club was short-lived, ending after the sacking of manager Gianluca Vialli by club owner Ken Bates. During this period, Rix briefly served as caretaker manager before leaving the club altogether.
