GRAHAM HUNT PENSIONER FROM PLYMOUTH CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 50 CHILD PORN IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Plymouth, Graham Hunt, a 72-year-old pensioner from Miles Mitchell Avenue, Eggbuckland, was found in possession of nearly 50 indecent images of children. The images, which included some stored on his mobile phone, were classified predominantly in category four, indicating a high level of seriousness.
Hunt appeared before Plymouth Crown Court to face charges related to his possession of child pornography.
He had previously pleaded guilty to nine counts of possessing such illicit material.
The court was informed that Hunt's actions are part of a troubling pattern, as he is already registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure that underscores the severity of his offenses.
During the hearing, Judge Paul Darlow addressed Hunt directly, stating, "Your previous convictions make depressing reading.
You have an entrenched recidivist attitude." The judge emphasized the gravity of Hunt's crimes and the potential risk he poses to the community.
As part of his sentencing, Hunt was ordered to undergo three years of supervision by the Probation Service.
Additionally, he was mandated to complete the Thames Valley Programme, a rehabilitation initiative designed for sex offenders.
The court also prohibited him from engaging in any employment or activities involving individuals under the age of 18.
Judge Darlow issued a stern warning that any breach of these conditions would result in Hunt returning to court, where he could face a further 12 months in jail.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about the management and monitoring of individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially those with access to children or vulnerable populations.
Earlier in March 2012, Hunt, then aged 71, faced similar allegations when he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
At that time, he was also found with nearly 50 images, including some stored on his mobile device.
The court was told that most of these images fell into the second-highest category of seriousness.
Hunt's case has garnered significant attention, given his age and prior convictions.
The court ordered a comprehensive report from the Probation Service to inform his sentencing scheduled for April 5.
He was released on unconditional bail pending the final judgment, but authorities have made it clear that all legal options remain open as the case concludes.
