GORDON DAVEY SHAMES COWDENBEATH WITH VIOLENT HOUSE INTRUSION AND ASSAULT

A resident of Cowdenbeath, Gordon Davey, has been formally sentenced following a series of violent and aggressive actions that culminated in a domestic assault and property damage incident. The events took place on April 10 in the Woodside area of Cowdenbeath, where Davey, aged 36 and residing on Rae Street, engaged in a disturbing episode of violence and intimidation.

According to court records, Davey arrived at his partner’s residence visibly intoxicated, carrying a bottle of Buckfast. His behavior was aggressive from the outset, as he began shouting and swearing loudly, disturbing neighbors and prompting them to contact the police. His conduct included repeatedly kicking the front door of the house, causing noticeable damage, and forcing his way inside despite the woman’s attempts to keep him out.

Depute fiscal Sarah Smith detailed that Davey’s actions escalated further when he left the property but returned later that afternoon. During his return, he attempted to re-enter the house after his dog outside. When the woman tried to close the door to prevent him from re-entering, Davey continued to shout abusive slurs, including “Dirty black whore” and “silly wee cow.”

Once inside, the situation worsened. The woman, who was holding her six-month-old baby at the time, was subjected to a shocking act of violence when Davey poured a bottle of Buckfast over her head. This assault was not only physically harmful but also deeply distressing, especially considering the presence of the infant.

During the court proceedings, Davey’s defense solicitor, Stephen Morrison, stated that both parties had been drinking that day. He mentioned that Davey sustained a cut on his hand when the woman threw a bottle at him, implying a mutual altercation. However, the court found sufficient evidence of Davey’s culpability in the domestic disturbance.

In sentencing, Sheriff Francis Gill acknowledged Davey’s previous criminal history, noting that he had been placed on a community payback order in February for a separate matter. For the current incident, the sheriff imposed a new community payback order with a supervision period of 12 months and required Davey to complete 125 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, a three-year non-harassment order was issued to prevent any further contact or intimidation involving the victim.
