GLEN ROGERS FROM BISHOP AUCKLAND, HARTLEPOOL, AND STOCKTON EXPOSED AS PEEPING TOM AND CHILD ABUSE IMAGE PERVERT

In a shocking revelation that has rocked the local communities of Bishop Auckland, Hartlepool, and Stockton, Glen Rogers, a man once employed as a teacher, has been exposed as a disturbing voyeur and a collector of indecent images of children. The scandal came to light following a series of police investigations that uncovered his sinister activities, which included secretly filming women in vulnerable moments and possessing a large collection of child abuse images.

Glen Rogers, who was a deputy head at a school in Bishop Auckland, saw his personal and professional life unravel after his double life was exposed. His actions involved covertly filming women in states of undress using hidden spy cameras, a revelation that left his wife, Vicky Rogers, and colleagues at St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College in shock and disgust. The school, which prides itself on a strong moral and educational ethos guided by Gospel values, confirmed that Rogers had not been employed there since July 2012, when the matter first came to public attention.

Mrs. Rogers, devastated by her husband's actions, expelled him from their luxurious £400,000 residence on the upscale Wynyard estate near Stockton. She has since relocated with their two children, seeking safety and distance from the scandal. The couple’s separation was further compounded when Mrs. Rogers discovered videos on Rogers’ computers depicting him engaging in sexual activities with another woman, which prompted her to contemplate divorce proceedings in April of the previous year.

Her suspicions deepened when, in an attempt to recover some of the files, she uncovered the spy camera footage, which included recordings of women showering, using the toilet, undressing, and in their underwear. These videos, totaling around 1,400, were stored on electronic devices, some with detailed descriptions of their content. Police investigations revealed that Rogers had also downloaded more than 500 images of child abuse from the internet, a discovery made when authorities seized his equipment last July. Prosecutor Harry Hadfield confirmed that these images were part of the evidence presented in court.

Further details emerged during the court proceedings, where it was revealed that Rogers had been living at Navigation Point in Hartlepool at the time of his arrest. The court heard that Rogers admitted to 14 charges of voyeurism and three counts of making indecent images of children. His sentencing included a 13-month prison term, suspended for two years, along with mandatory supervision and participation in a sex offenders’ treatment program. Judge Les Spittle emphasized the importance of the treatment, stating it was crucial to address Rogers’ disturbing behavior and prevent future offenses. Additionally, Rogers was banned for life from working with children.

During mitigation, Ian West, representing Rogers, explained that the period during which Rogers made the secret recordings was a low point in his life, marked by the breakdown of his marriage. West described Rogers as a man who, despite his actions, had not been entirely unrepentant. He noted that most of the indecent images Rogers saved from the internet were of the lowest severity level and that Rogers had taken steps to retrain and find new employment. West also highlighted that Rogers had not seen his children in over a year, with their contact limited to phone calls, and that his wife had moved to the south of England with the children.

In a statement, the school expressed its disapproval and confirmed that Rogers had not been associated with the institution since July 2012. The school assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding and stated that the activities leading to Rogers’ conviction took place outside of school premises. The school also communicated with parents to inform them of the situation and reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a safe environment for students.

The court was told that the secret recordings included footage of four women, capturing them in private moments such as showering, using the toilet, and changing clothes. These recordings were stored on various electronic devices, some with detailed descriptions. Police also discovered a hard drive hidden in a wallet alongside a pair of women’s underwear, indicating Rogers’ persistent and calculated behavior. Judge Spittle condemned Rogers’ conduct as a sustained course of criminal activity, emphasizing that his actions went beyond mere curiosity or temporary titillation. The judge acknowledged Rogers’ previously unblemished character and the shock that his dark side would cause among friends and associates, who were unaware of his hidden tendencies.

In conclusion, the court underscored the importance of addressing underlying issues that contributed to Rogers’ behavior, stressing that such matters must be dealt with in the interest of public safety and the protection of vulnerable individuals.
