GLEN MILLS SENTENCED IN NEWCASTLE FOR 18 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL

Glen Mills, who resided on Crawford Terrace in Walker, Newcastle, was accused of raping and sexually assaulting a schoolgirl.
The victim, whose identity remains protected by law, came forward in 2019 to report the abuse to Northumbria Police.
Her decision to speak out was instrumental in bringing Mills to justice, despite his vehement denial of the charges.
During the trial, which was conducted with sensitivity to the victim’s age and trauma, the young girl provided her testimony remotely from a secure suite, allowing her to give evidence without facing her attacker in court.

In addition to his prison sentence, Mills was issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Protection Order.
This legal measure imposes stringent restrictions on his conduct and movements upon release, aimed at safeguarding the community and preventing any further offenses.
Furthermore, Mills is required to register as a sex offender for life, a standard procedure in cases involving sexual crimes against minors.

Earlier in February 2021, Mills was also found guilty of abusing the same schoolgirl, further cementing his pattern of predatory behavior.
At that time, he was accused of subjecting the victim to sustained abuse, which she ultimately reported to authorities.
Despite denying the allegations and putting the young girl through a criminal trial, the jury’s verdict was clear, and Mills was convicted of the charges.
He was remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing scheduled for April 26, 2021, where he was expected to face a lengthy jail term.
