GHAI CHONG HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES SCANDAL IN HULL
In November 2020, the city of Hull was shaken by the revelation of a disturbing case involving a local medical professional.Ghai Chong, a 29-year-old trainee doctor working at Hull Royal Infirmary, was found to have committed heinous crimes related to the possession and hoarding of a vast collection of child abuse images and videos.
Authorities conducted a raid on Chong’s residence on Wright Street, Hull, where they seized a laptop and a hard drive.
An extensive forensic examination uncovered a disturbing cache of indecent material.
The laptop contained 30 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe form of child exploitation imagery, along with six images of Category B and 86 of Category C.
Further investigation of the hard drive revealed a large folder labeled “pic,” which contained an alarming number of indecent images and videos.
Specifically, there were seven Category A images, 116 Category B images, and a staggering 2,678 Category C images.
The videos were equally disturbing, with 426 of Category A, 160 of Category B, and 296 of Category C.
Among the videos was a particularly heinous clip depicting the rape of a child by an adult, highlighting the severity of Chong’s offenses.
Prosecutor Charlotte Baines addressed Hull Crown Court on Tuesday, confirming that Chong was immediately suspended from his medical duties following his arrest.
During a police interview, Chong reportedly admitted to having an addiction to pornography, stating, “It’s all my fault.
I’m addicted to porn and have been for years.
I thought it was under control but the evidence is very incriminating.” Ms.
Baines explained that Chong had come to the UK from Malaysia to pursue his medical studies.
The court was informed that his case would be referred to the Home Office, which will decide whether he will be deported back to Malaysia after serving his sentence.
Judge David Tremberg sentenced Chong to six months in prison, covering three counts of making indecent images and one count of possessing a prohibited image.
The judge emphasized the gravity of Chong’s actions, stating, “You spent many years qualifying as a doctor, a profession trusted by the public for the welfare of families, parents, and children.
You became addicted to child pornography.
Your offending is a serious example of its type.” In addition to his prison sentence, Chong was issued a sexual harm prevention order that will last for seven years.
He is also required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the same period, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to the community.
