    GERARD O’CONNOR FROM EASTBOURNE SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY AND ASSAULT IN DOMESTIC INCIDENT

    Gerard Patrick O’Connor, born on March 21, 1977, and residing on South Street in Eastbourne BN21, was convicted of a series of violent acts that took place within his local community. The incident, which occurred on September 19, 2019, involved the brutal killing of two kittens during a domestic violence altercation. O’Connor, who has a documented history of violent behavior, admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the animals by stamping on them with such force that both animals succumbed to their injuries.

    In addition to the animal cruelty charges, O’Connor pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by physically beating her during the same incident. The magistrates overseeing the case described O’Connor’s attack on the kittens as “prolonged and vicious,” highlighting the severity and brutality of his actions.

    The court sentenced O’Connor to a total of 24 weeks in prison. He was also ordered to pay £389 in compensation to the victim and was subject to a restraining order to prevent any further contact. Furthermore, he was banned from keeping cats for a period of ten years, a restriction that will remain in effect until October 2029.

    O’Connor, known among friends as Jez or Jezz, is originally from Northern Ireland but has been a resident of the Bootle area in Liverpool for several years. He has an adult son from a previous relationship.
