Smith, who previously worked as a pub landlord and more recently for the Cadishead-based waste management company Cleansing Service Group, was found guilty of multiple heinous crimes after two separate trials at Manchester Crown Court.

According to court records, Smith was convicted of indecent assault against a teenage girl, an incident that took place when she accepted a lift from him in her teenage years. There, he indecently assaulted her, ordering her not to tell anyone. She complied at the time and did not report the incident immediately. During the trial, the victim, now an adult, delivered a powerful victim impact statement. She described Smith as a “disgusting man” and expressed her desire for others to be aware of his actions. She revealed that the assault has left her feeling unsafe in vehicles with men, leading her to seek the assistance of a female driving instructor to help her pass her driving test.
