GEORGE WENLOCK JAILED FOR RAPE IN GILLINGHAM AND SIDCUP

In a case that has shocked the local communities, George Wenlock, a 19-year-old resident of Mallard Walk in Sidcup, has been sentenced to prison for the serious crime of sexual assault. The incident took place at a residence in Gillingham, where Wenlock committed two separate acts of rape against a woman in November 2018.

Wenlock pleaded guilty to two counts of rape during the court proceedings held at Woolwich Crown Court. The court was informed that the victim repeatedly expressed her discomfort and made it clear that Wenlock’s advances were unwelcome, emphasizing that she did not give her consent for any sexual activity. Despite her clear objections, Wenlock proceeded to assault her twice at the Gillingham address.

The judge sentenced Wenlock to four years in prison for his actions. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes. Furthermore, Wenlock was subjected to a 10-year restraining order, which prohibits him from making contact with the victim or approaching her in any capacity.

Detective Inspector Dan Rance, who led the investigation, expressed his support for the victim’s bravery. He stated, “Standing up against a man who has subjected you to the most abhorrent of offences is an incredibly difficult and intrusive process to go through. I commend this lady for the courage she has shown.”

Inspector Rance also reaffirmed the commitment of Kent Police to pursue justice in cases of sexual violence, emphasizing that offenders will be brought before the courts to face appropriate custodial sentences. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat sexual offences and protect victims from further harm.
