GEORGE TAYLOR FROM FRASERBURGH SENTENCED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTAL RAPE AND STABBING INCIDENTS

In June 2011, a disturbing case unfolded in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, involving George Taylor, a man with a troubling criminal history related to child sex offenses. Despite being under a court order that prohibited him from approaching young girls, Taylor committed a heinous act by raping a 14-year-old girl during a house party in Fraserburgh. The victim, who had been drinking and was subsequently put to bed, was assaulted while she was vulnerable and intoxicated. Taylor entered the bedroom where she was resting, closed the door behind him, and silenced her cries by covering her mouth with his hand. He then proceeded to force himself upon her, an act that left her terrified and traumatized.

According to reports, the assault was interrupted when a male partygoer opened the bedroom door and saw Taylor pulling up his trousers, suggesting that the attack was ongoing or had just concluded. Taylor claimed he was merely checking on the girl, but her distress was evident as she fled the house shortly afterward, partly dressed and visibly shaken. The incident was not only a grave violation of her safety but also a breach of the court order Taylor was under, which had been in place since 2007 to prevent him from contact with minors.

Law enforcement authorities became aware of the rape during their investigation into a subsequent violent incident. Taylor was found to be in custody at Aberdeen at the time. He later pleaded guilty to the charges at the High Court in Edinburgh, where Lady Stacey imposed a lifelong restriction order, citing the high risk of reoffending. The court heard that Taylor had a record of previous child sex offenses and was considered a danger to the community. He was sentenced to serve a minimum of 32 months, but his release would depend on the parole board’s assessment of his rehabilitation and safety. If released, he would remain under lifelong monitoring.

Adding context to the case, Taylor’s defense attorney, Shahid Latif, highlighted his client’s borderline intelligence and his willingness to participate in rehabilitation programs. Taylor’s guilty plea spared his victim from having to testify in court, which was seen as a mitigating factor in the proceedings.

In a related incident, just a day after the rape, Taylor was attacked in Fraserburgh by Gary Martin, a 32-year-old man who had been staying in the same bed and breakfast on Shore Street. Martin, who was reportedly intoxicated and agitated, confronted Taylor in the street near the Elizabethan Bar. During the confrontation, Martin accused Taylor of his past actions, saying, “You know what you are. You know what you done,” before launching a violent attack. Martin swung punches at Taylor and then stabbed him seven times, inflicting multiple wounds. The attack was motivated by revenge for the earlier sexual assault.

Martin was arrested and brought before the High Court in Glasgow, where he was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempted murder. The incident was a clear act of vigilante justice, carried out less than 24 hours after Taylor’s rape of the young girl. The court proceedings revealed that Martin and Taylor had been staying in the same accommodation, and the attack was a direct response to Taylor’s criminal behavior.

Further details emerged during the trial, including the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. The court heard that Martin and Taylor had met in Fraserburgh, and Martin, appearing intoxicated, asked Taylor to return a jacket he had borrowed. When Taylor handed over the jacket, Martin placed it on a wall and accused Taylor of his past crimes, then began assaulting him. Taylor sustained multiple stab wounds, including six to his back and one to his hip, though he testified that he was in shock and did not see who inflicted all the wounds. Witnesses with Martin expressed their disdain, with one spitting on Taylor and saying, “You deserve what you get.”

Prosecutors emphasized that Taylor’s prior conviction and guilty plea for child rape indicated a high likelihood of reoffending, which influenced the court’s decision to impose a severe sentence. The case underscores the ongoing issues of justice, vigilante violence, and the dangers posed by repeat offenders in the Fraserburgh community.
