GEORGE MCGILVARY'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN ROSYTH AND INVERKEITHING LEAD TO FOUR-YEAR JAIL SENTENCE
A man from Fife, identified as George McGilvary, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting two women and recording one of the assaults. The disturbing incidents took place in different locations within the region, including Inverkeithing and Rosyth, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that has left the community shaken.According to court reports, McGilvary, aged 60 and residing on Spittalfield Road in Inverkeithing, committed a particularly heinous act at an address in Inverkeithing where he used a sex toy on one of his victims while she was unconscious and lying on the floor. During this assault, he took photographs and recorded a video of his abuse, actions that have compounded the severity of his crimes and contributed to his conviction.
In addition to this, McGilvary was found guilty of another assault that occurred earlier at a property in Rosyth. In that incident, he subjected a different woman to abuse involving a candle and performed a sexual act on her. The court heard that both victims were under the influence of medication at the time of their assaults, which may have impaired their ability to resist or fully comprehend what was happening.
The trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court revealed that the assaults were carried out in a manner described as 'most callous and degrading,' reflecting the brutal and disrespectful nature of McGilvary’s actions. Despite denying the charges, the jury unanimously found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism, underscoring the strength of the evidence against him.
These crimes have shocked the local communities of Inverkeithing and Rosyth, raising concerns about safety and the need for vigilance. The court's decision to impose a four-year prison sentence aims to serve justice and send a clear message about the consequences of such reprehensible conduct.
