In February 2018, a former Metropolitan Police Special Constable named George Corr, who resides in Ashford, was formally sentenced after authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images of children stored on his personal devices. The investigation was initiated following a report to Childline in August 2016, which came from a concerned member of the public.
According to reports, the individual alerted authorities after observing what they described as 'disgusting images of children' on Corr's computer and iPad.
This tip-off prompted law enforcement officers to conduct a thorough search of Corr's residence in Fontmell Park, Ashford.
During the search, police discovered over a thousand indecent images of children, which had been saved on his computer's hard drive and backed up on his mobile phone.
The images were dated back to December 2013, indicating a prolonged period of possession.
Following the investigation, George Corr, aged 25 at the time, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
His guilty plea led to a sentence of 15 months in prison, which was suspended for two years, allowing him to avoid immediate incarceration under certain conditions.
As part of his sentencing, Corr was ordered to participate in 60 days of rehabilitation programs aimed at addressing his behavior and understanding the harm caused.
Additionally, Corr is required to complete 175 hours of unpaid community service.
He will also be registered on the sex offender's register for a decade and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for 15 years, restricting his activities and contact with minors.
