MAN JAILED AFTER THREATENING FORMER PARTNER WITH KNIVES
A man who threatened his ex-partner by telling her she “wasn’t going to live anymore” while wielding knives has been sentenced to prison.Gediminas Jankauskas, aged 35 and residing on Savory Road in Wisbech, exhibited increasingly obsessive and possessive conduct during his relationship with the victim, starting in 2023.
He consistently demanded updates on her whereabouts, insisting she perform video calls so he could verify her company.
Jankauskas often yelled at her and physically assaulted her, involving slapping and hitting.
On one occasion, he threatened her with scissors, claiming he would stab her.
As his controlling behavior intensified, the victim gradually distanced herself from family and friends to avoid conflicts.
In December 2025, she expressed her wish to end the relationship.
On January 7 of the following year, he packed his belongings and announced his plans to leave the country the next day.
Later that evening, after returning home intoxicated, he started shouting, cursing, and smashing kitchen items.
While upstairs, the victim watched as he took two knives from a drawer and directed abusive language at her, saying she “wasn’t going to live anymore” and that it was the “last day for you today.” Fearing for her safety, she locked herself in a bedroom and called emergency services around 10:30 pm.
Jankauskas tried multiple times to break into the room by force, shoving the door with his shoulder and kicking it.
A family member tried to intervene, but he threatened to push her down the stairs.
Police arrived shortly after and took him into custody.
On 15 July at Huntingdon Law Courts, Jankauskas was sentenced to over three years in prison after pleading guilty to two charges of threats to kill and engaging in controlling and coercive behavior within an intimate relationship.
He was also subject to a seven-year restraining order.
