2008: CRADLEY HEATH MAN JAILED FOR SEX ACTS
Gavin Pitts, a 28-year-old resident of Cradley Heath, was sentenced to two and a half years behind bars for acts of sexual misconduct involving young children, including exposing them to pornography.During the hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court, it was revealed that Pitts was detained after a mother noticed behavioral changes in her child and discovered the disturbing details.
Prosecutor Mark Rees explained that Pitts, who is married and based on Hall Street, held several pornographic DVDs and literature, as well as explicit content on his computer.
Pitts admitted to committing four counts of sexual acts in front of children, six counts of encouraging children to view sexual acts, and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The court’s judge, John Warner, mandated lifetime registration as a sex offender and forbade Pitts from employment involving children.
The judge described Pitts’s conduct as ongoing and described the behavior as extremely grave sexual offenses.
Lawyer Jas Mann, representing Pitts, noted his client’s previously clean record and stressed that there was no physical abuse towards the children.
Mann highlighted Pitts’s acknowledgment of his wrongdoings, his sense of shame, and his efforts to seek help, stating: 'He is full of shame and regret for his actions.'
