2018: JILTED CRADLEY HEATH LOVER JAILED AFTER SLASHING EX'S TYRES
Michael Cobb, a man from Cradley Heath, was sentenced to 11 months in jail after vandalizing his ex-girlfriend's car and property in a fit of emotional distress.
Prosecutor Paul Spratt outlined that Cobb punctured two of her tires, smashed a bottle on the car's bonnet, and broke a window at her Meadow Walk residence.
The relationship was short-lived, and Cobb could not accept its end.
During sentencing, Judge James Burbidge QC told the 25-year-old that he was armed with a significant offensive weapon when he damaged the vehicle following her refusal to see him again.
The judge also highlighted Cobb’s youth and his apparent inability to deal with rejection, and raised safety concerns related to knife use in the area.
His defense, represented by Andrew Mitchinson, argued that Cobb’s actions were driven by alcohol and drug influence and his difficulty in accepting the breakup.
Cobb, with no fixed residence, admitted to criminal damage and offensive weapon possession and was ordered to stay away from his former partner and her home for five years through a restraining order.
