GAVIN PEACOCK FROM PLYMOUTH CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN MOTLEY

In June 2009, a man from Plymouth, Gavin Peacock, was found to be in possession of numerous indecent images of children stored on two separate mobile phones.
The case was brought before Plymouth Crown Court, where Peacock faced serious charges related to the possession and creation of child exploitation material.
Gavin Peacock, aged 35 and residing on Alexandra Road in Plymouth, pleaded guilty to 19 counts of making indecent images of children, along with two additional counts of possessing such photographs.
The court heard that the images included both still photographs and videos, all depicting boys, with the severity of the images classified from Category One to Category Five, the latter being the most explicit and disturbing.
The discovery of these images occurred in July of the previous year when a friend of Peacock’s, while using one of his mobile phones to download music, stumbled upon the illicit content.
Concerned by what he found, the friend handed the phone over to the police.
This led to the arrest of Peacock and the subsequent seizure of a second mobile device from his flat in Plymouth.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of images, including 128 indecent pictures classified as Category Four and two images categorized as Category Five, indicating highly explicit material involving minors.
The evidence was deemed sufficient to charge Peacock with multiple serious offenses related to child exploitation.
In his defence, Emma Birt described Peacock as a naive individual with no prior criminal record.
She emphasized that he was “embarrassed, distressed and thoroughly ashamed” of his actions.
Birt explained that Peacock had been unaware of the full extent of the images on his phones and suggested that he had been naive in accepting images sent to his mobile device.
She further stated that Peacock had been admitted to Plymouth’s Glenbourne psychiatric unit, from which he was released to attend the court hearing, highlighting his fragile mental state and possible underlying issues.
Ultimately, the court sentenced Peacock to a 26-week prison term, which was suspended for two years.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a sexual offending behaviour program and was subjected to a two-year supervision order to monitor his conduct moving forward.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities in Plymouth to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from harm.
