GAVIN BRADFORD SCOTLAND TEACHER INVOLVED IN DISTURBING ONLINE INCIDENTS IN COATBRIDGE AND GLASGOW

In a disturbing case that has garnered significant attention, Gavin Bradford, a former educator with ties to Coatbridge and currently residing in Glasgow, is under investigation for inappropriate conduct involving minors during his time abroad. The allegations date back to 2006 and 2007, when Bradford was working in Canada, and involve a series of troubling online interactions with young students.

According to reports, Bradford, aged 37 at the time, engaged in a series of explicit and highly inappropriate requests directed at at least 21 pupils. These interactions took place over webcams, where he encouraged students to participate in bizarre and disturbing acts involving food items such as pie, ketchup, eggs, and sour milk. The nature of these messages was described as “way beyond inappropriate” by a source in Canada, emphasizing the severity and sustained pattern of his misconduct.

Specifically, Bradford instructed a female student to pour sour milk down her underwear and cover herself in ketchup. He also asked another girl if she would put a pie down his pants, and told a different female student that he would “take delight in slowly pushing a gooey pie in her face.” These requests were part of a series of messages that revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior, raising serious concerns about his suitability to work with minors.

Canadian authorities, after a four-year investigation, revoked Bradford’s teaching license in Ontario. The investigation uncovered evidence that he was registered to teach students as young as 12. Following the scandal, Bradford fled back to Scotland, where the repercussions of his actions contributed to the breakdown of his marriage. He now resides in the west end of Glasgow.

Prior to these events, Bradford was employed as a performing arts lecturer at Coatbridge College in Lanarkshire from January 2010 until October 2011. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing a production of the musical “Chess.” Bradford claimed that he left Canada due to personal reasons, specifically citing his marriage breakup.

Currently, Bradford is under investigation by the General Teaching Council’s Fitness to Teach Panel. A hearing regarding his case is scheduled for July 24. The GTC has confirmed that they have no record of him currently teaching in Scotland. Meanwhile, the Ontario authorities issued a warning to their Scottish counterparts about Bradford’s conduct during his time abroad.

Bradford acknowledged the existence of the GTC investigation when contacted by the Record, stating, “I’m not working as a teacher here and I have no comment to make.” His case continues to draw attention to issues of safeguarding and professional conduct within the teaching community in Scotland.
