GARY TOMS FROM CLEETHORPES BACK IN COURT AFTER PRISON RELEASE FOR BREACHING SEX OFFENDER REGULATIONS

In a recent development at Grimsby Crown Court, Gary Tombs, a 35-year-old sex offender from Cleethorpes, found himself back before the judiciary following violations of the conditions set upon his release from incarceration. Tombs, residing on Sandringham Road in Cleethorpes, was charged with failing to adhere to the strict registration requirements mandated by law for convicted sex offenders.

According to the prosecution, Carl Fitch, Tombs had previously served a prison sentence of two and a half years, which commenced in January 2012. His incarceration was the result of a conviction for sexually assaulting boys under the age of 13. Despite his release from prison in May of the previous year, Tombs did not fully comply with the legal obligations to inform authorities of his current residence and other relevant details.

Specifically, in July and August of this year, he failed to notify police of his proper living arrangements, a breach of the conditions that are designed to monitor and manage convicted sex offenders within the community. This failure to report raised concerns about his compliance with the law and the safety of the community.

During the court proceedings, Andrew Bailey, representing Tombs, argued that his client had been making efforts to reintegrate into society. Bailey stated that Tombs had been actively seeking employment and had reached out to voluntary organizations for assistance, indicating a desire to turn over a new leaf.

In light of these breaches, the court decided to impose a supervision order on Tombs for a period of one year. This order is intended to monitor his activities closely and ensure compliance with all legal requirements moving forward. The case underscores the ongoing responsibilities and legal obligations that sex offenders like Tombs must adhere to even after serving their sentences, and the importance of community safety and vigilant monitoring.
