GARETH ROBERTS FROM BROUGH SENTENCED AFTER INDECENT IMAGE DISCOVERY NEAR SCHOOL AND PARK
Concerned parents have expressed their outrage after discovering that Gareth Roberts, a convicted paedophile, resides just two streets away from a popular children's park and Welton Primary School.Roberts, aged 36, was found in possession of indecent images of children as young as four.
The police search of his home in Brough, Yorkshire, in March 2017 uncovered a significant number of images, including some depicting children in 'discernible pain or distress,' according to the Hull Daily Mail.
Roberts was sentenced on Monday to a ten-month jail term, suspended, after authorities found a total of 58 Category A images—the most serious—along with 228 Category B images and 133 Category C images.
Due to the installation of a file-shredding application on his device, the full count of downloaded images could not be precisely established.
The sentence has sparked community outrage, with parents sharing their shock and concern, especially considering his proximity to a children’s park and school.
One social media user asked, 'How has he got away with this?
Feel sick that he lives on the next street!' Another added, 'From Brough as well, another one getting nearer.' Gareth Roberts, a married man, admitted to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, which occurred between 2011 and 2017.
He had no prior convictions.
The court ordered Roberts to undergo up to 50 days of rehabilitation and to pay £500 in costs within 28 days.
