GALASHIELS MAN GARETH JONES REMANDED AFTER DOMESTIC ASSAULT CHARGE
A resident of Galashiels, Gareth Jones, has been placed in custody following allegations of assault against a woman.Jones, who is 48 years old, appeared before Selkirk Sheriff Court in a private hearing to face charges related to a domestic incident.
The court proceedings revealed that the alleged offence took place at a residence within Galashiels.
During the hearing, Gareth Jones did not enter a plea to the charges brought against him.
Instead, he was fully committed for trial, meaning the case will proceed to a higher court for a full hearing of the evidence.
The court also decided to refuse bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the need to ensure public safety.
As a result, Jones remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
