FREDERICK THOMSON SENTENCED IN GLASGOW AND STEVENSON FOR PREDATORY ABUSE
In August 2018, a disturbing case involving the abuse of two young boys came to a conclusion at the High Court in Glasgow. Frederick Thomson, aged 59 and residing on Morris Moodie Avenue in Stevenson, was found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed over a span of more than a decade.Thomson faced charges that included four counts of lewd and libidinous practices and behavior against a male under the age of 13, as well as one count of similar conduct against a male under 16. Throughout the proceedings, Thomson maintained his innocence, denying all allegations. However, the victims were compelled to give evidence in court, revealing the extent of Thomson’s predatory actions.
The court was informed that Thomson’s offending began in 1975 and continued until 1987, with incidents occurring both in Glasgow city and specifically within the Drumchapel area. The abuse was characterized by repeated molestation, where Thomson engaged in sexual touching of the boys’ private parts. The victims recounted that Thomson exposed himself to them on multiple occasions, creating a pattern of predatory behavior.
Further details revealed that Thomson engaged in digital penetration, using his finger on one of the boys, which led to Thomson ejaculating over the victim’s body. The abuse escalated over time, culminating in Thomson committing penetrative sexual intercourse involving the anus of one of the boys. These acts inflicted profound trauma on the victims and demonstrated a disturbing pattern of exploitation.
After considering the evidence, the judge sentenced Thomson to a total of eight years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm. The case underscores the long-lasting impact of such abuse and the importance of justice for victims of sexual predation.
