GLASGOW MAN BANNED FROM OWNING ANIMALS AFTER ABUSING DOG
A man from Glasgow has been prohibited from owning animals for a period of four years and fined £470 after being found guilty of severe mistreatment of his dog.
Conor Nicholls pleaded guilty to violating animal welfare laws at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, June 24.
In May 2025, SSPCA Inspector Cannon visited Nicholls' residence after reviewing footage that showed Nicholls physically abusing his black Labrador, Juke.
The inspector responded with a forceful approach, and Juke exhibited signs of fear around him.
Nicholls was officially warned, and Juke was taken to a veterinarian for treatment before being transferred to an SSPCA Animal Rescue & Rehoming Centre.
Since Nicholls did not appeal the ruling, Juke was handed over to the Scottish SPCA and has since been adopted into a new home.
Inspector Cannon described it as heartbreaking to see Juke in such distress and stressed that removing Juke was essential for his well-being.
The sheriff's ruling was well-received, and the case serves as a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Scotland.
