November 2016 ‘Despicable’ New Addington child rapist is jailed A car mechanic who groomed and raped a young girl who washed cars at his workshop has been jailed. Frederick Skinner began grooming his victim when she was just 12-years-old. The 59-year-old offered her pocket money to work at his workshop, where he would brush past her as she cleaned his cars. When she turned 13, he convinced her to go with him to Keston Ponds in Keston Common. Here, he took her into the woods and sexually assaulted her. Skinner, of Goldcrest Way, New Addington, took her home and told her not to tell anyone or they would both get into trouble. The paedophile spent the next 12 months sexually assaulting his victim in his van and in his mother’s home on a regular basis. Each time he raped her, Skinner warned her again not to tell anyone. It was only when the victim’s family spotted text messages from Skinner that the police were called. He was arrested the same day and his van seized for forensic examination. DNA from Skinner and the victim was found on a carpet inside the van. The ‘dangerous child rapist’ denied all offenses when interviewed by police but was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court. He was found guilty of three counts of rape and five counts of sexual activity with a child. Skinner, who must sign on the sex offenders’ register for life, was jailed today for 16 years.
