FREDERICK COOK SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE IN PONTYPOOL AND CARDIFF

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Pontypool and the surrounding areas, Frederick Cook, a 63-year-old man residing on Canford Close, Trevethin, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term for a heinous crime committed decades ago. The incident in question involved the brutal rape of a schoolgirl during the 1980s, a period when Cook was in his late twenties. The severity of the assault and the long-lasting impact on the victim have led to a substantial custodial sentence, reflecting the gravity of his actions.

Cook's criminal history is extensive and troubling. Court records reveal that he has a total of 13 prior convictions, encompassing 24 separate offenses. Among these are previous sex-related crimes, including a conviction in 1998 at Norwich Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 27 months in prison for indecently assaulting two young girls under the age of 14. More recently, he faced another conviction at Newport Crown Court last month for a single count of rape, further underscoring his pattern of predatory behavior.
