FRANK BURTON SENTENCED IN STAFFORDSHIRE FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN WOLVERHAMPTON

A man who endured horrific sexual abuse as a nine-year-old during the 1980s has courageously come forward to share his story with the Express & Star, revealing how he finally found the strength to report his abuser after more than three decades of silence. This brave decision ultimately led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of 57-year-old Frank Burton, a man who committed these heinous acts in Wolverhampton during his twenties. Burton was brought before Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, where he received a sentence of five years and ten months for abusing children aged nine to ten, acts that took place in Wolverhampton but have left a lasting scar on the victim’s life.

According to reports, the victim, now in his 40s, recounted that the turning point came in 2021 when he decided to approach the police and report the abuse. His decision was instrumental in prompting detectives to investigate further, which led to the identification of two additional men who had also been accused of similar misconduct. These individuals, including Burton, were prepared to testify in court, providing crucial evidence that sealed Burton’s fate. The defendant ultimately pleaded guilty to three counts of child sexual abuse, acknowledging his guilt in a case that spanned decades.

The man who first reported Burton described the emotional toll of carrying such a heavy secret for so many years.
