FRANCIS KELLY FROM SWINDON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGER IN WILTSHIRE

In a case that has shocked the local community, a man from Swindon has been sentenced to prison for engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor. Francis Kelly, aged 48, who resides at Blandford Court in Park South, was found guilty of multiple serious offenses related to his interactions with a 14-year-old girl.

The crimes, which spanned nearly a year, involved Kelly having unlawful sexual intercourse with the young girl and committing acts of gross indecency. These incidents occurred between December 2001 and October 2002, during which Kelly’s actions were scrutinized in court.

Kelly admitted to three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and three counts of gross indecency, acknowledging his involvement in these criminal acts. The court proceedings revealed that Kelly and his partner had maintained a longstanding friendship with the girl’s mother, which led to Kelly being entrusted with caring for the girl at her home. This relationship of trust was ultimately exploited, leading to the criminal conduct.

Following the conviction, Kelly was sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release. The prosecution highlighted that the young girl, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, is still awaiting counseling from the NSPCC to help her cope with the trauma of her experiences.
