FRANCIS CASSIDY FROM LIVINGSTON FACES PRISON FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO WOMEN OVER A DECADE

In a case that has shocked the community of Livingston, 68-year-old Francis Cassidy has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses spanning over ten years. The conviction follows a detailed trial at Livingston Sheriff Court, where evidence revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse involving two women, one of whom was a young girl at the time of the initial incidents.

According to court records, Cassidy, residing on Toronto Avenue in Livingston, was found guilty of abusing a girl from her ninth birthday until just before her 19th birthday. The abuse included repeated exposure, groping over and under her clothing, and coercing her into performing sex acts. The jury heard harrowing testimony from the victim, who was unable to be named for legal reasons, detailing the prolonged and invasive nature of the assaults.

The case took a further turn when a second woman, aged 22, came forward to police, alleging that Cassidy had also indecently assaulted her. Both women provided compelling evidence during the trial, which ultimately led to Cassidy’s conviction on multiple charges, including lewd, indecent, and libidinous behavior, as well as indecent assault involving each victim.

Throughout the proceedings, Cassidy maintained his innocence, denying the charges of lewd and indecent behavior. Sheriff Susan Craig, presiding over the case, issued a stern warning to Cassidy, advising him to prepare for imprisonment.
