FLOYD WINCH FROM MAIDSTONE CAUGHT FILMING VICTIM IN BATHROOM WITH SPY WATCH AND UPLOADING TO PORN SITE
In March 2021, a disturbing case of voyeurism emerged involving Floyd Winch, a resident of Maidstone, who used a covert device to secretly film a woman in her bathroom and subsequently uploaded the footage to an international pornography website. The incident, which took place in Maidstone, has garnered significant attention due to its invasive nature and the long legal process that followed.
According to court reports, Winch, aged 30 at the time, carefully positioned a 'spy watch' on the side of the victim's bath, aiming to capture her in a vulnerable moment while she was in the shower.
Over the course of six separate occasions, he recorded her without her knowledge.
The footage was then uploaded to a website that attracts millions of viewers worldwide, making the victim's ordeal widely accessible and deeply invasive.
The victim, who was unaware of the recordings until she was contacted by a stranger from America, was shocked to learn that her private moments had been broadcast online.
The stranger informed her that the videos had been viewed thousands of times, which initially led her to believe it was some sort of cruel joke.
However, her suspicions were confirmed when she realized the extent of the circulation, prompting her to report the matter to the police.
It took five years for the case to reach sentencing at Canterbury Crown Court, where evidence revealed that Winch had stored six videos of the victim on his 'spy watch' and a computer tower seized from his residence on Kingsley Road.
Interestingly, the offences did not occur at his home, but the devices contained the illicit recordings.
During police questioning, Winch claimed that the recordings were accidental and that he had uploaded only one video by mistake, citing poor eyesight as the reason for the error.
Despite these claims, he pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year during his trial.
The victim provided emotional testimony in court, describing her ongoing distress and feelings of paranoia following the incident in 2016.
She expressed her embarrassment and shame, especially knowing that her images had been viewed by countless strangers online.
She revealed that she now feels compelled to sleep in pajamas for fear of what might happen in her sleep and feels uncomfortable undressing within her own home.
Judge Simon James addressed Winch directly, criticizing his lack of remorse and dismissing his earlier denial as
