MEDWAY MAN PERSISTENTLY DIALLED 999, VERBALLY ABUSED CALL CENTRE STAFF AND EXPOSED HIMSELF TO PARAMEDICS
Steven Hill will now be subject to the notification requirements of the sex offenders' register for seven years.
The 66-year-old admitted a string of offences, including exposing himself to paramedics and verbally abusing emergency staff.
Hill, of Station Road, Rainham, was charged with exposure, assault on an emergency worker, and persistently making use of a public communication network to cause annoyance.
He pleaded guilty to all offences when he appeared in court in June.
Sentencing was initially adjourned but he returned to Medway Magistrates’ Court on December 18, where magistrates sentenced him to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months.
Because of the exposure offence, Hill must now register for the sex offenders' register for seven years, reporting his details to the police within three days of conviction and annually thereafter for the same period.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £50 to each emergency worker as compensation, along with a £154 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
Comments made during proceedings indicate Hill's medical condition, noting he still receives treatment for liver cancer and has issues with alcohol, which may have contributed to his behavior.
