KING'S LYNN TEENAGER BRAVELY TESTS OFFENDER FLORIAN PETRICA CALIN SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS
Police have commended the bravery of a teenage girl from King's Lynn who was groomed and raped by Florian Petrica Calin, a man who has now been sentenced to 25 years in prison.Authorities described Calin, 39, as a "determined and calculated" offender after he was convicted on three counts of rape relating to the 14-year-old girl in 2019.
The Romanian national, residing on Sir Lewis Street in King's Lynn, was found guilty following a trial held in October.
Calin had denied all allegations but was acquitted of three additional rape charges and one threat to kill.
On Friday, during his sentencing at Norwich Crown Court, Calin, who communicated through a Romanian interpreter, received a 25-year prison term for the rape convictions.
Additionally, Judge Maureen Bacon sentenced him to 10 years concurrently for two other rape charges.
Calin will be registered for life as a sex offender and is expected to face deportation to Romania upon release from prison.
Norfolk police praised the victim’s strength throughout the complex investigation into the abuse.
Detective Constable Carl Richie stated: "Calin systematically groomed and abused this victim in a determined and calculated manner.
He completely destroyed the trust of those around him after he continued to abuse a child for his own perverted needs.
I would like to commend the victim, who has shown great strength and courage throughout this investigation, and I hope this sentence provides them with some closure."
