FLETCHER MASSEY SENTENCED IN HULL FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGERS
Fletcher Massey, a 21-year-old man formerly residing on Newland Grove in Hull, has been convicted of a series of serious sexual offences involving five teenage girls and a woman. He targeted his victims with disturbing violence and threats, including making vile threats to kill.
During the court hearing, it was revealed that Massey raped one girl and subjected her to degrading acts such as forcing her to cook and clean for him.
He also sent a threatening knife emoji to another girl, along with a message warning he would stab her in the face.
Massey pleaded guilty to nine charges, which include rape, four counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and intimidating a witness, spanning from June to September 2020.
He also admitted to forcing a girl to watch a video of him performing a sex act, thus causing her to engage in sexual activity.
Prosecutor Ian Howard explained that Massey had consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl he met on Facebook during the COVID-19 lockdown, after she sneaked out of her home to see him.
He also had sex with another 14-year-old girl he met via Facebook after she visited his home.
In one disturbing incident, Massey forced a 15-year-old girl to cook and clean for him and had sex with her up to six times a day.
He threatened her with violence, including a moment when he had sex with her while holding a pillow over her face and threatened to throw acid in her face.
Massey also assaulted a pregnant 16-year-old girl by grabbing and squeezing her neck until she felt dizzy.
In another case, he lost his temper during a dispute with a 20-year-old woman he was dating, headbutting her in the face.
He further intimidated another girl acting as a witness by threatening to kill her in a voicemail message.
Evidence included four emoji messages, one depicting a knife, and 12 phone calls in a single day, with threats to stab her in the face and knock her out.
Now known as Kai Massey, he has prior convictions for attempted robbery, assault, and possessing a knife.
Defence solicitor Stephen Robinson acknowledged that Massey had suffered a difficult childhood and had been in care, which affected his social and emotional development.
Robinson described his behaviour as impulsive and immature, but expressed some optimism about Massey’s future, stating, "He does feel more positive for the future." Recorder Anthony Hawks sentenced Massey to 12 years and three months in prison.
He was also ordered to be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life.
After the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Stu Fox commented, "It became clear to us from listening to the accounts of these girls that Fletcher Massey is an extremely callous, dangerous and perverted man who enjoys inflicting harm on young women for his own pleasure." Sergeant Fox praised the bravery of the victims, emphasizing their strength in coming forward and remaining dignified throughout the investigation despite attempts by Massey to intimidate them into withdrawing their statements.
He expressed hope that the sentence will help provide some closure for the victims and stated, "There is nowhere other than behind bars that this man deserves to be." The NSPCC also responded to the case, noting that Massey’s last-minute plea spared his victims from reliving their traumatic experiences in court but could not undo the harm caused.
They emphasized the severity of his actions and the importance of justice for the victims.
