NEWS MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A resident of Prescot has received a prison sentence after being convicted of child sex offences committed three years prior.Finlay Rayner, aged 24 and residing on Maple Grove, was given a three-year prison term on Wednesday, 24 June, following his guilty plea to two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15.
He has also been mandated to register as a sex offender indefinitely, and a restraining order has been issued to bar him from contacting the victim for the next ten years.
During the court hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, it was revealed that Rayner, who was 20 at the time of the offences, had contacted a 15-year-old girl via Snapchat, initiating a sexual conversation that eventually led to sexual activity.
In a victim impact statement she said: “Since the incident I struggle to be around men.
This can be in any situation when men are in the room, I feel really panicky.
This has also impacted my education as I have had to leave due to panic attacks during the day.
I received counselling also for six months.
“Prior to this I would go out every day, at first I wouldn't go out at all, I go out more recently but nothing like I used to.
I have a lot more stress in my life now, when I go out I feel unsafe and need to call someone when I am walking home.”
